Friends Newsletter - November 2018
I hope you have all had a lovely Summer and enjoyed the lovely weather we had. The band were very busy playing at Fetes and Bandstands in the area. We have also played two concerts tor charities and a concert for HADCAF. In June the band did a concert for Newbury Citizens Advice Bureau in Wash Common where we raised approx £500. In October we performed at the, now annual, Poppy Concert for Hungerford Royal British Legion where we raised approx £500.
The band are now entering its busy Christmas schedule, we will be at the following venues please come and say hello it you are about and request your favourite carol. Full details can be found here: hyperlink.
Our Christmas Concert in the Town Hall, Hungerford on 8th December at 7.30pm. It would be lovely to see you there.
The band have been working hard on trying to increase the numbers in the training band. A small group went to Hungerford Primary School in September and performed a concert to the children and letters have been sent home to hopefully encourage some more children to learn brass in the hope they will join In the future.
The band is looking into the possibility of “going on tour” to Germany in the Summer of 2020.
This tour would be open to friends and supporters of the band, as well as band members I will let you know more details in the next newsletter.
After Christmas the band begins rehearsals on the First Suite in Eb, by Gustav Holst; the test piece for the regional contest at Stevenage in March.
Finally, the Band wishes you and your family a Happy Christmas and look forward to seeing you at some point over the Christmas period and in the New Year.
